What Is the Correct Way to Set Up Blacklists/Whitelists?

Modified on Wed, 12 Feb at 9:29 AM

To manage traffic sources effectively, you can create blacklists (to block unwanted traffic) or whitelists (to allow only specific traffic).

Steps to Set Up Blacklists/Whitelists

  1. Go to the "Filters" tab in your Clickaine account.
  2. Click the "Add Filter" button.
  3. Choose the type of filter you want to apply:

Traffic Source Filtering Options

Whitelist or ❌ Blacklist based on:

  • Hosts or Host IDs (e.g., google.com)
  • Site IDs (e.g., 42)
  • Mainstream IDs (e.g., 42)
  • Publishers (e.g., 42)
  • IP Ranges (e.g., 1.1.1.1-2.2.2.2)
  • TLDs (Top-Level Domains) (e.g., .xyz)
  • Segment Filtering (e.g., p_2120#h_123123123123#g_USA)
  • Mainstream Publisher IDs

Additional Tips for Traffic Filtering

  • If you use dynamic macros like {hostId}, {host}, {siteId}, {publisherId} in your tracking links, you will collect detailed source data, which allows for more precise filtering.
  • When adding multiple filters, enter each one on a separate line.
  • Do not combine blacklists and whitelists in the same filter for better performance.
  • Mainstream traffic sources should be added in separate lines to avoid errors.
  • If your filter is not working or you have questions, contact support or your personal manager.

By properly setting up blacklists and whitelists, you can optimize traffic sources and improve ad performance.
